I’ve been thinking a lot about my hair lately and how much time I spend on it when I do put effort in how it looks and I how it doesn’t seem like I do anything to it when I do spend time on it. The only thing stopping me from getting Sisterlocks is not having seen them on someone in person. I have the money but when it comes to doing something more permanent with my hair, I want to ensure it’s really what I want.

So if anybody with Sisterlocks is reading this, and you live in Southern California, and some skinny chick runs up to your asking you a million questions about your hair, don’t beat her down with your purse or whatever you happen to have in your hand. It’s just me and I want to get a good look at your hair.

I really should have gone to workout tonight. I just need to do it. Both of them. The hair and the workout.

Nothing sends me into a hair funk like having to blow dry my hair and then flat ironing it. I just want to let my hair be.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Sisterlocks lately, mostly because I’m tired of my hair and can’t figure out what to do with it. I think I need to make an appointment with a consultant to see if Sisterlocks are the way to go. I would love to do more living and less worrying about my hair.

I need to get some sleep. I have to get up early for Toastmasters and then I’ll have a very long day. I’m planning on meeting some folks from one of my meetup groups and hanging out in LA. Gotta love how I have to travel so far for a social life but folks up here aren’t trying to do anything fun.

I think I probably feel like a lot of people when I voice my frustration about the secrecy behind the patterns. Just because I know how to do something doesn’t mean I’m willing to do it myself. I know how to change the oil in my truck and custom frame a picture, but that doesn’t mean I want to do it. I’m willing to pay someone else to do the things I don’t want to spend my time doing but apparently if people know what it is the consultant is doing to their hair, people won’t want to pay a consultant. Whatever. It’s only bad business if the consultant doesn’t know what he/she’s doing and he/she’s screwing somebody’s hair up out of ignorance or laziness.

I want to know as much as I can about what’s being done to my hair so that if someone tells me 3 inches of the end of my hair will be left out of the pattern, I’ll know to tell that person to stop being lazy and lock the whole length.

I purchased the Nappylocs business in a box and started reading the booklet. The Nappylocs booklet describes several different patterns that can be used to lock one’s hair: 8, 6, 5, 3, and 2-point patterns. Now the book doesn’t say which pattern works best on which hair types but my guess is the looser the curl pattern, the tighter or more turns you want (8 or 6 pt).

I just wanted to blog about a hair emergency. I just read on Brunsli’s blog about the dangers of cornrolling Sisterlocks and lock loss. You can read about it here.

I’ve always been curious about cornrolling Sisterlocks. I know what the stress of wearing braids can do to one’s hairline, and I automatically assumed doing a whole lot of braiding (especially cornrolling) can’t be good for Sisterlocks.

I don’t think cornrows are good for loose, chemical-free hair with how tightly most folks braid hair. I hate getting my hair braided.

Anyway, I just wanted to blog a little bit about the issue and send you to Brunsli’s blog so you can ask her all kinds of questions.

Enough about hair.

I’ve seeing a lot of women around me struggle with working and motherhood. Why would you attempt to do both if you don’t have to? I guess that’s one reason why I won’t have children. I don’t want to be a working mom. I don’t want to juggle both. I know a lot of women who do who don’t have to and I shake my head. I actually want to smack them but shake my head instead because that’s the more kosher thing to do.

If I were married and my husband said i could stay home with my babies, I’d be so long gone from the job. But I won’t ever marry so i don’t have to worry about that scenario.

A cousin tagged me so I’m posting 25 things about myself. I’m supposed to post the rules and tag a couple of folks but that’s just not my thing. If you want to try this then go ahead and try it.

I think I have a great buttom and wish I had eyes in the back of my head so I can get a better look at it in a mirror.

I’ve been celibate for almost 5 years (6 years if you count that time I wasn’t there mentally).

I don’t have a favorite color.

I’m terrified of becoming overweight and weigh myself almost everyday to ensure I stay within my ideal weight.

I can’t seem to maintain relationships because I value my “me time” too much.

I’m attracted to younger men. I think the Jonas brothers are hot!!! I would get excited when their Target commercial came on tv. <?> I don’t know why you say good buy. I say hello. Hello! Hello! <?>

I started writing a book during January National Novel Writing Month 2006 about a women who was being stalked by a man who burglarized her home. I stopped because the story shifted from her to him and his character was too scary for me to continue. I got about about 7,000/50,000 words done.

I considered becoming Mormon or Jewish. I think Mormons are charming and Jews are mysterious.

I want to join a nudist colony. I hate wearing clothes.

I feel lonelier when I’m with a group of people than when I’m by myself.

I want to be a screenwriter.

I hate it when people imbed music on their blogs. I have my own playlist I like to listen to when I surf the blogosphere. I don’t want to listen to yours!

I love to read. I especially like to read How-to books.

I’m seriously considering Sisterlocks for my hair. I feel it’s time to style my hair in a way that’s complimentary to my natural hair texture. I’m tired of fighting what God has given me.

I find the word ‘nappy’ unbelievably offensive and don’t understand why black folks use the word to describe their hair. Please tell me it’s not the new term of endearment for black hair.

I recently joined Meetup.com. I’m hoping to meet some single people (without children) to hang out with in the Antelope Valley.

I have the soul of a 500-pound woman. I love food. I don’t really like cooking but I definitely like eating.

I was devastated when I found out corned beef and cabbage wasn’t soul food. Who knew it was an Irish dish! Do they eat it with corn bread, too?

I think sharing 25 things about myself is a little excessive. Why not just 5 or 10? Who ever came up with this social tag must have been really bored.

I don’t like shaving so I opted to get my underarms and my bush lasered off.

I had a really big crush on Matthew McConaughey. I think he has the most perfect arms, legs, and chest. Who cares if he has bad body odor! That’s what baths are for, danggit!

I think I’m the only person in my family who didn’t vote for Barack Obama. Sorry. I’m an independent and think McCain and Obama were two of the worst candidates for POTUS since Bush and Kerry! I don’t consider my vote wasted just because I used it on a third party candidate either. If Americans actually thought about the candidates they vote for we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with. Damn @ssphants!

I’ve celebrated my 23rd birthday several times and I plan to keep doing it.

I’m tired of school and don’t plan to go back ever again.

I don’t like being tagged.

Plus, with school, I really didn’t have time to respond to comments. I’m going to try out comments again. Feel free to leave a comment or two or three.

Sorry if you came by my blog looking for more information about Sisterlocks. I don’t have Sisterlocks but I’m considering.

Just two more weekends and I’ll be able to do stuff on the weekends worth blogging about. Like discovering restaurants, getting out of the house, man hunting, etc. These last two weeks are going to be very difficult. I don’t want to write anymore papers or ready any chapters. I’m tired of reading academic stuff (unless it’s about money).

Since I discovered Sisterlocks, I’ve been searching high and low for more information on the technique, more pictures, and more about consultants in my area (California). Sadly, California consultants aren’t really good at advertising their services. I’m not sure if it is because they already have a full clientele and aren’t taking anymore clients or because they live in the Stone Age and don’t know how great the Internet is for advertising.

I’ve only come across a few consultants with Web sites advertising services and displaying the finished product. That’s a good thing because the more information I can find, the more questions I’ll know to ask a consultant when the time comes for me to meet with one. I just wish there were more pictures of the installation process as I’m obsessive about the parting. I don’t like crooked lines! And if I’m going to do something so permanent to my hair, I want it done right the first time. Know what I mean?

I just wanted to share some stats from my blog (shavonne.org) on how many hits my blog gets from people looking for more information about Sisterlocks. Mind you, these stats are only from the end of October 2008 to present. I didn’t have stats installed before the last week of October 2008.

Anyway. It makes me happy to get visitors to my blog, but since I don’t have Sisterlocks nor am I aspiring to become a consultant, my blog is hardly the place for seeking information. But I’ll be more than happy to keep blogging about Sisterlocks and directing visitors to other sites much more worthy of the attention.

I was completely and totally devastated when I learned Golden had taken out her Sisterlocks. She is was my lock idol.

For like 5 seconds, I wanted to conduct a witch hunt for the person responsible for influencing Golden to cut her luscious locks. Then I came to my senses and realized that if my Lock Idol no longer had locks, then I could take her place.

Yes, I could have the most lavishly luscious locks to ever grace the blogosphere. If I ever got Sisterlocks.

I don’t know if I will ever take the plunge. I mean, if Golden could get tired of having low maintenance hair and go back to blow drying and straightening and avoiding humidity, would I ever do the same?

Last year, I wore my hair in a ponytail for 364 days. It could be 365 days but I’m giving myself some credit. I do recall wearing my hair partially down to work one day. And I probably took my hair out of the ponytail and let it hang loose. Oh, wait, I did attempt to wear my hair down on Thanksgiving, so that’s day two.

Happy New Year everyone. I hope this year is better than 2008. I have a lot of things to look forward to. Like finishing school in 5 weeks. Yay!

Is it bad luck to end 1 year with a cold and start a new year with one?

I have some things I want to accomplish this year. I’d blog about them but I don’t like disclosing every detail about myself in my blog. I will take a break from blogging. I will post a few times a week.

Gosh, I seem to not have much to talk about.

I suppose after I finish school, I will start to look for a consultant for sisterlocks. I think I will get them. I think they will look nice on me. And I won’t have to avoid doing the things I like because of my fear of sweating out my hair or having to wash it. I want wash and go hair. Not wash and comb out, blow dry and flat iron.

I think I’m going to get some rest. I hate sitting at my computer. I won’t be blogging the next couple of days.

Braiding and banding is already a part of my hair washing routine. I started doing this in college as I found it easier to comb out my hair after washing, which saved lots of time for studying.

From what I?ve read, Sisterlocks require braiding and banding before washing to prevent the locks from slipping (unraveling) during the washing process. I?m already starting with good habits.

Did I mention I sleep with my hair wrapped?

I don’t know how much longer it will be if I decide to get Sisterlocks as I still haven’t found any information on consultants in California. My number 1 choice is still Phyllis Johnson despite her living in Delaware and not being listed on the Sisterlocks Web site.

Can you imagine putting up to 16 inches of hair in the Sisterlock pattern? How long do you think that would take? 4 days?

I didn’t get much of a good night’s sleep last night. I had a dream about a war. It was a bad one, one that actually made it to American shores. My dream was nothing like Pearl Harbor or 9-11. Much, much worse and last night’s wasn’t the first time.

I also dreamed someone I know got back together with her ex-boyfriend. For some odd reason, I don’t think this conversation was a dream. I could be wrong. I will ask on Tuesday.
